Hi! My name is Maribel but people know me as PrincessElemmiriel, my nickname in the art world.
I am a self-taught artist. I’ve been drawing all my life but I started to publish my work in 2002. Since then, I have been working harder and harder to improve and find my own style. My illustrations are colourful and personal; they have an “ethereal touch”, as my friends usually say. I like experimenting with textures, so I never follow a specific pattern when I have to work.
I love videogames, which are my main source of inspiration, but anime/manga, films, and of course the japanese culture are also very inspirational for me.
As for my technique, I usually draw with pencil and paper. I feel confortable with traditional elements when I have to create something. Sometimes I don’t have enough time to spend in front of the computer, so pencil and paper are always useful and handy! When my sketch or my pencil drawing is finished, I can scan it and add all the digital arrangements I want in Paint Tool SAI and Photoshop: colors, effects, shadows, brushes, enhance the lines, or even remake the whole picture again! I enjoy spending hours working on them and testing new colors, patterns or brushes just to see how they works on the picture.
