The Parish: An AmeriCorps Story

Inspired by the author’s service in St. Bernard Parish in the aftermath of Katrina, The Parish: An AmeriCorps Story is a graphic novel for the boomerang generation.

Our story begins at Camp Believe, the abandoned elementary school that Leo and his friends call home. Leo runs the newsletter while Kiley, the girl he thinks he loves, spends her days rebuilding houses. Then there’s Snave, Leo’s teammate, a rebel without a clue who chafes against authority and the letter of the law. Over the course of The Parish, these characters come of age, trespassing into areas of their lives that were previously taboo.
